Ascend Tools Heavy Duty Big Bow Re-sharpenable Bent All-Purpose Industrial Utility Shears | 11-3/8 inch and 9-3/4 inch (Large) USAGE MODEL – Shears to cut heavy duty materials such as thick fabrics, fiberglass, carbon fiber, nylon or polypropylene rope, canvas, leather, breather, upholstery, craft material, plastic and more. The sharp blades provide clean trims on single of multi-layer cutting material. The notch near the fulcrum allows cutting round material which high leverage (such as nylon or polypropylene rope). CONSTRUCTION – These shears are ideal for cutting long swathes through layers of thick and heavy fabric. Made from high carbon Japanese steel the blades are hardened to HRC 50-54 Rockwell standards. The tang extends into the grip for efficient transfer of cutting power to the blades. One blade is micro-serrated to avoid slippage and the other can be sharpened to extend life. The bolted joint allows modification of blade tension for control over cutting different types of materials. PERFORMANCE – The hardness and grinding renders sharp blade edge which delivers a clean cut – where straight, a trim or a rounding cut. These shears have been tested for several thousand cuts on soft materials. They also have been tried on 8-layers of 6-oz fiberglass for multiple cuts. ERGONOMICS – The ergonomically designed large grip-ring delivers more power with reduced fatigue and wrist strain, especially in repetitive cutting jobs. The grips easily fit in the power portion of the hand to produce cleaner cut with less effort. The larger loops allow fitting of large or gloved hands. MAINTENANCE – Under normal use, it is recommended to clean the blades with soft cloth. After heavy use, it is recommended the blades be cleaned with normal cleaning oil. Keep shears away from moisture; clean with soft cloth if in contact with water. The shears must be used as directed. The blade life can be severely shortened if hard thick material is cut (e.g., metal plates). The grip is made of Thermo-plastic elastomer and cleaner with soap-water or any light industrial cleaner.
